About Kearney High School
Our Mission
Our mission at Kearney High School is to educate for today, inspire for tomorrow and empower for the future.
What Makes Us Great
Real World Learning That Pays Off
At Kearney High School, we believe education must prepare students for real life. Starting this school year, every graduate is required to complete a Market Value Asset (MVA), whether through internships, industry-recognized certifications or school-endorsed project-based experiences. This ensures our students graduate not just with knowledge, but with hands-on skills and confidence in their futures.
Academic Excellence & Opportunity
With a graduation rate hovering near (or above) 98%, Bulldog students consistently perform at the top of the Kansas City area. A rigorous offerings matrix that includes Advanced Placement courses, dual credit and specialized electives augments a college- and career-ready curriculum.
Championing the Arts, Athletics & Activities
Whether it's the roar of the Bulldog football crowd, applause filling the theater during our musicals, or quiet focus in academic teams and clubs, KHS supports growth in every direction. Our students excel across MSHSAA athletics, music, theater, speech & debate and beyond.
A Caring Community With Bulldog Pride
Kearney High School is a family. From daily classroom connections to lifetime community partnerships, we foster relationships that endure well beyond graduation. Bulldog Pride is built through support, engagement and shared values.
Driven by Data, Led by Compassion
Our district’s academic framework ensures every student receives the academic, behavioral and emotional supports they need to succeed. With a leadership team committed to both metrics and meaning, Kearney High School continues to refine and strengthen its approach for student-centered excellence.
Welcome from our Principal
Welcome to Kearney High School!
Kearney High School houses grades 10 – 12 in Kearney School District and offers a variety of learning options for its students. With over 50 certified teachers in core subjects and electives, KHS students have many outstanding learning opportunities to prepare for post-secondary school success.
With nearly 10 Advanced Placement Course offerings and nearly 30 Dual Credit Courses offered through various local Universities, KHS students have the opportunity to graduate with multiple college credits for those who want to attend a college or university.
Kearney High School has also partnered with many Kansas City area school districts and the Kauffman Foundation to offer a wide variety of Real World Learning (RWL) opportunities for its students. In fact, every student who graduates from KHS is required to earn at least one Market Value Asset (MVA) in one of those RWL opportunities. MVAs can be earned through Internships and other Work Experiences provided through the District or its partners. Collecting 9 hours of College Credit can also earn students an MVA. Students can also obtain Industry Recognized Credentials and Entrepreneurial Experiences through the District and its partners. Capstone experiences approved by the District RWL Committee can also earn students an MVA. District partners include the Excelsior Springs Area Community Center, Northland Career Center, and Northland CAPS. Please see the KHS Website and Program of Study to view all of the academic options at KHS.
KHS is excited to educate the whole student and offers a wide variety of activities, organizations, and clubs to help keep all students engaged and connected to the KHS and Kearney Community. KHS has a very proud history of competing for Conference, District, and State championships in all activities, organizations, and clubs. For more information, please see the KHS and KSD Activities Department Websites.
